Day 1: Nice/Savona 16:00

Savona is the capital of the Province of Savona, in the Riviera di Ponente on the Mediterranean Sea.
Nowadays, the city revolves around the port and fortress Priamar which is the authentic symbol of Savona.
Inhabited in ancient times by Ligures tribes, it came under Roman influence in c. 180 BC, after the Punic wars in which the city had been allied to Carthage. At the fall of the Western Roman Empire, it passed under Lombard rule in 641 (being destroyed in the attack) after a short period as an Ostrogoth and then Byzantine possession. Later it recovered as county seat in the Carolingian Empire.
After a long struggle against the Saracens, Savona acquired independence in the 11th century becoming a free municipality. Subsequently, after a short alliance, it fought Genoa before being definitively conquered in 1528. It then shared the fortunes of the Republic of Genoa until Napoleonic times, and subsequent annexation to the Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont (1815).

The city full of unscrupulous spies that we know from the legendary Humphrey Bogart’s movie does not exist, in the contrary …  Casablanca is in fact a very modern metropolis conducted successfully by entrepreneurs who have invested heavily in the artificial port which is currently one of the largest and most dynamic of all Africa. If you are looking for a complete visit of Casablanca, do not  miss the Corniche, a scenic coastal road which crosses the rich district of Anfa, with its pools hidden among the rocks overhanging the sea and a multitude of restaurants, coffee and nightclubs which are an crucial part of the sparkling nightlife of this part of town.

Madeira, land of contrasts !!!…. Funchal comes from the word funcho, meaning fennel in Portuguese. Funchal is the capital of the island of Madeira, an autonomous region of Portugal comprising the islands of the archipelago. With its neighbouring boroughs (municipalities) of Camara de Lobos, Santa Cruz, Machico and Ribeira Brava the town has over 150,000 inhabitants. It is the most populous Portuguese city outside mainland Portugal. The Funchal conurbation includes the cities of Funchal, Câmara de Lobos, Caniço and Santa Cruz, all on the south side of Madeira.
Funchal lies in a natural “amphitheatre”, with gentle slopes beginning at the harbour and rising almost 1200 metres. This provides a natural shelter that attracted the first settlers. The largest and most popular of the Balearic Islands, Mallorca spreads over an area of some 3660 square kilometers. The name Palma dates back to the Roman settlement on the site of the present city, although the area was originally settled during the Bronze Age. In the early middle ages it was conquered by Arabs, who named it Madina Mayurqa. In 1229 it was conquered by King Jaime I, ruler of Valencia and Aragon, and became an important trade city. Attacks by Turkish pirates in the 17th century led to a century long decline, finishing when Charles III opened trading with the Indies.

Day 1: Venice 17:00

Venice, city of art, melancholy and prestige. This extraordinary architectural decoration stands on an archipelago of small islands, separated by a network of canals crossed by some 400 bridges, which in the past were made of wood and stone, but were later replaced by other stone bridges, all shaped as arcs. The square, which is the true heart of Venice and a symbol of the Venetian, is an architectural gem, one of the most beautiful places all over Italy, a miracle made of trachyte and Istrian stone. In the past, several civil and religious ceremonies took place in the city as well as the magical celebration of the Carnival. The cafes and shops that surround it are still a point of meeting, which animates the city in a very lively way.

Day 2: Bari 13:00 – 20:00

Bari, the second south Italian metropolis, became a major agricultural industrial and commercial center, born of a dynamic port and important trade crossroad with the Middle East. Bari is made up of four different urban sections. To the north is the closely built old town on the peninsula between two modern harbours, with the splendid Basilica of Saint Nicholas, the cathedral of San Sabino (1035–1171) and the Castello Svevo of Frederick II, which is now also a major nightlife district. To the south is the Murattiano section, the modern heart of the city, which is laid out on a rectangular gird-plan with a promenade on the sea, and the major shopping district (the via Sparano and via Argiro).

According to legend, the city of Naples’ origins are rooted in the myth of the Siren Parthenope (”of the voice of virgins”). Her body washed up on the shore of nearby Megaride, a tiny island in the Bay of Naples, was found by the locals, who respectfully interred her remains in Mount Echia, now the hill of Pizzofalcone. Dominated by Mount Vesuvius, whose smoking headdress plumes every corner of the city and each illustration, which represents it represents, Naples is undoubtedly a very exciting city, both because of its geographical position and the abundance of historical artifacts and monuments. Vesuvius is the only active volcano in mainland Europe, and has produced some of the continent’s largest volcanic eruptions.
